Goodridge Lock wire is an Aircraft grade 302 stainless steel lock wire made to military specifications is perfect for positioning hoses or mounting hardware. Lock wire or safety wire is a type of positive locking device that prevents fasteners from loosening due to vibration as well as other forces. The presence of safety wiring also serves as an indicator that the fasteners have been properly tightened. Lockwire is available in a variety of gauges and materials, depending on the application. In racing applications, stainless steel wire is used, most commonly in 0.032" in (0.81mm) diameter. Typically, the wire is threaded through a hole drilled into a fastener or part, then twisted and anchored onto a second fastener or part, then twisted again.
